Our June cover photograph of the annual Cleveland Orchestra’s Independence Day Concert and celebration on Public Square was taken by the Orchestra’s photographer, Roger Mastroianni.
Roger, a Cleveland native, is a world-class location photographer specializing in creative photography for magazines, agencies, designers, publications and architects. His fine art photography is part of the permanent collection at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

This year’s “Star Spangled Spectacular” free concert and Independence Day celebration will take place Thursday, July 2 at Public Square. Loras John Schissel will conduct the Cleveland Orchestra in a concert at 9 p.m. featuring works by Gershwin, Sousa, Rodgers and, of course, Tchaikovsky’s “1812” Overture. Fireworks will immediately follow the concert, weather permitting. Pre-concert festival activities begin at 5 p.m.
