Cleveland Public Theatre’s annual fundraiser, Pandemonium, this year was themed to Hidden Treasures. As usual, the party fully utilized the many spaces that are Cleveland Public Theatre.
Four tattooed performance artists greeted guests with maps on their bodies showing the location of the theater in Cleveland. In twelve performance locations, the 900 guests enjoyed thee dozen acts including musicians, storytellers, comedians, theater works, dancers and roving performers.
The benefit program listed more than 100 volunteers. Chairperson Shellie Sedlak and her committee made sure that every guest was pleased with the experience.
Food came from 24 area restaurants at grazing stations, while five celebrity chefs presented examples of their work. Marlin Kaplan of Luxe Kitchen & Lounge, for example, served hanger steak with mushroom risotto and samples of his house brand wines.
Pandemonium ’08 honored Jim and Laurie Rokakis with the Pan Award. It is given for contribution to the arts and the community, which mirrors the mission of the Cleveland Public Theatre.
Theater staffer Mindy Herman estimated that the night would generate about $175,000 for the organization. STORY BY ART THOMAS. PHOTOGRAPHS BY ROBERT MULLER
