“Straight From the Heart”
The regional heart centers of the Cleveland Clinic have benefited from “Straight From the Heart” parties over the last five years. “We’ve raised well over one million dollars so far,” according to Fred DeGrandis, Regional Hospitals President.
This year’s event was held at LaCentre. Sold out at 575 attendees, the party carried the heart theme through the night. Red was the color for women at the black-tie event, but men found creative ways to dress in red too.
A bubble machine attracted attention to the champagne bottle raffle at which guests purchased a bottle. Half were winners of grab bags with gift certificates and other goodies. There were other high-end Chinese raffle items as well.
“Straight From the Heart” offered a raffle with a top prize of $100,000. Thirty-nine other prizes included trips to Las Vegas, New York and Chicago, Alaska and Caribbean cruises, and a Harley. Guests posed for pictures on it, and also on a jet ski.
Event Chairperson Victor Hall and his committee created an atmosphere of excitement at the event. Everyone was hopeful of winning. “It’s that spirit of hope that also pervades at the Cardiac Care Centers throughout the Cleveland Clinic” said DeGrandis.
