“Road to the Red Carpet”

Each of the more than 700 guests received Oscar-winning treatment at the second annual benefit hosted by and for the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.
The red-carpeted entrance to Pickwick & Frolic set the stage for the glamorous evening starting with people savoring champagne and posing for souvenir photos that through digital technology transposed attendees to the real red carpet at the Academy Awards.
Lisa Mullin was chairman of the event coordinated by Sherri Foxman of Party411. A lavish spread of hearty hors d’oeuvres was prepared by P&F owner Nick Kostis’ expert staff. The silent auction offered one-of-a-kind items such as Jeff Bridges’ autographed guitar from Crazy Heart, a walk-on role for Entourage, and autographed posters from the casts of The Blind Side, The Hurt Locker, Up in the Air, Precious and more. A one carat diamond necklace, donated anonymously, was offered as a raffle prize.
People filling Hilarities 4th Street Theatre for the live telecast of the Oscars had the opportunity to cast their own votes as each categories’ nominees were announced. Clevelanders proved that they are the best movie fans anywhere! “Building the film industry in Cleveland” is the mission of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, said its executive director Ivan Schwarz. “That will create jobs here; we want Hollywood to leave their money here.” STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHS BY KATHRYN RIDDLE
