“Market Under Glass”
The 15th annual “Market Under Glass” continued its successful heritage in the Galleria at Erieview. Supporters are attracted to the event because of the generosity of nearly 50 restaurants that prepare samples of their offerings. More than 1,400 guests helped raise more than $100,000 at this event.
Chairpersons Anita Gray and Loree Vick must have had on “sensible shoes” as they sprinted from one end of the Galleria to the other, greeting guests and celebrating the success of the evening. They found some time to spend in the upper level VIP Suite. Party-goers who paid a premium enjoyed not only wines, but also martinis there. Roving servers brought tastings from the restaurant’s booths.
This year’s Market Under Glass seemed more spread out than in previous years, and guests enjoyed the breathing room. Wine tastings were part of the evening as well, with domestic and world wines well-represented. Media and political “celebrities” helped at some booths and a jazz quartet made lively music. Finally, there was no shortage of sweets for dessert. As the silent auction closed, special excitement swirled around the travel packages to exciting destinations that included Continental airfare.
