 Our Lady of the Wayside
“Grapes & Ale”

Our Lady of the Wayside knocked one out of the park at Progressive Field, the venue for its 12th annual benefit presented by  Giant Eagle.
Stretching through Concourse C from the Market Pavilion to the Patio’s Craft Brew Sports Zone, a record crowd of more than 1,200 people quaffed wine and beer samples and chowed down on barbeque from the best restaurants in the city. OLW’s Car Donation Booth anchored the display for the silent auction featuring a wealth of great items. In Heritage Park, VIP ticket holders cast ballots in blind taste-testings of premier red and white wines, with the winners announced in each category. Cupcake won the honors with its Red Velvet for Best of Red and its Moscato d’Asti for Best of White.
John Lanigan of WMJI was emcee for a short program that included remarks by OLW President and CEO Terry Davis, Kenny Crumpton from Fox 8, Joe Crea from The Plain Dealer and Tony Rizzo. It was only a brief interlude to the fabulous musical entertainment by Colin Dussault and his Acoustic Side Project featuring Jim Tigue and Eroc Sosinski.
The benefit helped to raise more than $80,000 and will be used, said Terry, to support the Wayside’s nursing health care program for its clients with mental and physical challenges. The nonprofit is about to open its 47th and 48th residential homes; there were only two when Terry started as a consultant with Our Lady of the Wayside in 1990.
