Well, it’s back-to-school season for those of us with school-age children whether we like it or not! Summer seems to have flown by once again, and while it is still summer according to the calendar, those of us with students at home realize the subtle changes toward fall.
The sudden rush to finish those required summer reading books we purchased in late June. The alarm clock sounding before 6 a.m. to get high school golfers out the door and onto the first tee for nine holes of practice and early-season tournaments. The cleaning of closets to weed out last year’s clothing duds to make room for this year’s back-to-school shopping “must-haves.” The school district newsletter in the mailbox that includes the all-important bus schedule for the year.
Yes, the sunscreen bottles are nearly empty, vacations are over, football players are sweating it out in two-a-day practices and the August to August calendar organizer I purchase annually at Fireside Book Shop is ready to be filled with this year’s activities.
So Currents this month is devoted primarily to issues about Education (see Section C), but also to Bridal (Section B) and Home Design (Section C) just to mix it up a bit for our readers who don’t all have students they are gearing up to send back to school!
Enjoy our coverage, too, this month of the many summertime benefits held throughout Northeast Ohio at which guests could get out and “give” while enjoying the special spaces and places event-planners chose this season to highlight the best of “the good old summertime” right here in Greater Cleveland.
