“Jump Back Ball”
It could only be the creative genius of the PlayhouseSquare Partners to put on a scene like Jump Back Ball 18 — Rockin’ Under the Seas. There were ladies outfitted in wet suits, mermaid outfits and flowing chiffon gowns and gentlemen dressed in black tie, pirate garb and even an under-the-sea mural painted on a suit.
Held at the majestic State Theatre, more than 700 revelers enjoyed a range of fun stuff from a silent auction, raffle and photo booth to the sounds of DJ Packy Malley, the sea creature conquering Cannon and digital photo opportunities in the orchestra pit.
They lined up for a sumptuous buffet on stage provided by Sammy’s and danced the night away to bands Shucking Bubba Deluxe and Second Chance.
One of the biggest parties of the year, the event raised more than $128,000 for PlayhouseSquare with support from presenting sponsor National City, now part of PNC. A standing ovation goes to co-chairwomen Jessica Brady and Megan McFadden and Partners co-chairs Allen Kacenjar and Amy McGann. The set design Oscar (especially for the ship in the middle of the lobby) goes to decorating gurus Mike Johnson, Meredith Ball, Allison Adams and Mario Becerra.
