Finally, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held in the city where the term “rock ‘n roll” was coined! The excitement started three hours before show time as guests began arriving at Public Auditorium. Throngs of media jockeyed for position as celebrities alighted from their vehicles onto the red carpet. What fun to see the rock stars, their spouses and dates, and to check out their attire! It was a glamorous evening, and it must be said, the locals held their own. We won’t see anything like this until 2012 when Cleveland is scheduled to host the ceremony once again.

Inside, 1,200 VIPs were seated at tables on the main floor. An additional 5,000 fans filled the balcony to see the legends of music – both inductees and presenters.

The old adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” certainly applies to the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, so if you couldn’t be there, enjoy Rob’s photographs! STORY BY CAROLINE R. MERK/PHOTOGRAPHS BY ROBert MULLER
