The American Cancer Society’s 28th annual Life Savers Ball scored a hit with the theme, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
More than 350 guests attended the baseball-themed gala at Deluca’s Place in the Park, raising $90,000 for cancer research, programs and services. Chairpersons Dr. Alexander and Maria Zolli personally welcomed attendees to the event. In addition to an elegant surf and turf dinner, party-goers enjoyed silent and live auctions and dancing to the music of TKO Entertainment.
A highlight of the gala was the presentation of the Living Angel Award to Amy Butler. The principal of Elyria Catholic High School, Ms. Butler courageously shared her cancer journey with her students and taught them a lesson in life about not giving up and pushing forward no matter what life brings.
The recipient of the annual Living Angel Award is an individual in Lorain County who has direct involvement in the field of cancer, either through personal experience as a patient, or by working with cancer victims as a physician, nurse, researcher, social worker or volunteer.
