American Heart Association American Stroke Association “Ignite”

The Cleveland Heart & Stroke Ball was given the title “Ignite” this year, and the name was apt considering the fervor of the 475 guests at the Renaissance Cleveland ballroom. The black-tie event brought out the best in fashion from the guests with many of the women wearing red and white, the colors of the Heart Association. Executive Director Amanda Rowe set a goal of raising $475,000 for the night — about $1,000 per guest.

The pre-function space was bright with white fabric covering the walls to better display the silent auction items as guests socialized over cocktails. The color theme continued in the ballroom where floral centerpieces featured an array of all white blossoms, including lilies. Dramatic red lighting contrasted with the white. A raise the paddle to fund research chaired by Jeffrey and Patti Embleton was called “Open Your Heart” and raised $38,000.

The program at the Heart & Stroke Ball was emceed by Daniel Reichard, a Broadway luminary and a native of Westlake. He originated the role of Bob Gaudio in the original and Broadway productions of “Jersey Boys”. The evening concluded with Reichard in concert performing songs that spanned a century including some Frankie Valli hits. STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHS BY ART THOMAS
