The 16th annual Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles was held at the historic Glenmoor Country Club near Canton. Five thousand people came to admire more than 200 vintage and classic automobiles on display.
This year the Glenmoor Gathering featured “Historic Motorcars of Cleveland,” Cars of Bizzarrini-Duesenberg. The winner of Best in Show was a spectacular 1933 Duesenberg Model SJ Beverly Berline by Murphy. It was custom-made in 1933 for industrialist Powell Crosley, Jr., of Cincinati, who owned the Crosley Radio Co., WLW radio and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. The current owner of this multi-million dollar automotive work of art is New Jersey trial judge, Joseph Cassini. He proudly showed off its luxurious interior complete with plush armchair seats, a built-in vanity, radio and bar. It was meticulously restored by RM Restorations of Chatham, Ontario, Canada.
The founder and publisher of “Sports Car Market,” Keith Martin, served as honorary chairman of the 2010 Gathering. His Portland, Oregon-based monthly magazine is considered the definitive authority in the car collector hobby field in terms of collecting, investing, values and trends. The 2010 invitational artist was Ken Dallison, who was chosen to produce the Glenmoor Gathering poster artwork.
Proceeds from the Glenmoor Gathering will benefit Canton’s Mercy Medical Center. The funds are designated for the hospital’s emergency expansion and renovation. STORY BY CAROLINE R. MERK/PHOTOGRAPHS BY ROBERT MULLER
