Roadfest 12

The young professional”s support organization for Center for Families and Children hosted "Roadfest 12," its annual scavenger hunt to benefit the health and human resources agency. Success Partners attracted 15 teams to begin at Tremont”s Lincoln Park on an "Amazing Race" style event. Participants were tested on their knowledge of Cleveland-proper by visiting four sites, collecting both things and photographs, and doing this in 240 minutes.
Event Chairmen Nicole Trombetta and John Lynch began by giving game rules to the teams from the park”s gazebo before sending them out in three waves. The first clue was a jigsaw puzzle. When assembled it was a comic book cover that pointed teams to a local publisher.
Co-chair Ann Weinzimmer said, "This is an era of new communications, so teams are encouraged to have friends at home who can help research and guide teams by cell phones." The after party for "Roadfest 12" was at the Clevelander Bar and Grill where friends and guests gathered earlier. Points were tallied, bonuses added, and time penalties subtracted. Winners got prize baskets, and there was a consolation basket for the team with the lowest score. STORY BY ART THOMAS/PHOTOGRAPHS BY ROB WETZLER
