City Ballet of Cleveland “Sugarplum Tea”

More than 125 people attended the annual “Sugarplum Tea” held at the Cleveland Skating Club in Shaker Heights.

The afternoon event featured a beautiful dessert buffet highlighted by area pastry chefs along with tea and hot chocolate. Many mothers and daughters were in attendance, along with grandparents and friends. Guests enjoyed a special photo opportunity with the Sugar Plum Fairy and other “Nutcracker” favorites, as well as a special reading of “The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker” from Courtney J. Laves-Mearini, artistic and executive director of the City Ballet of Cleveland.

This fundraiser, all oriented around the children, also included special crafts, make-your-own chocolate pretzels and a raffle with fun prizes. The Sugar Plum Tea was chaired by Ms. Laves-Mearini and Mary Brown, who worked alongside Donna Burrer and Iman Joshua.

A non-profit dance company, City Ballet of Cleveland is dedicated to returning classic al ballet to NE Ohio. In its fourth year, the company has joined the exclusive Regional Dance America Organization and also received its first grant from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and another matching grant from the Ohio Arts Council.
