Ah, February. Love is in the air — along with single-digit temperatures — and things are getting hot over at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Rainforest Building. Once again, the over-21 crowd had a chance to get the inside scoop on what makes the world go ’round in the animal kingdom. More than 300 guests at “Animal Attractions” walked through warm, steamy jungles and exhibits, got close-up views of reptiles, enjoyed the indoor rain storm and waterfall, and sat in on animal sex education mini-lectures.
It was an opportunity to indulge in food and drink sensations, too. Party-goers enjoyed tasty samplings from a variety of area restaurants, caterers and eateries. Not to be missed: the wine education and tasting sessions with vintages from Spain and taste sensations from the Zoo’s Aramark Chef Vince Gaikens.
Cleveland Zoological Society Director Liz Fowler told us the much anticipated opening of the new Elephant Crossing exhibit is right on schedule. Donors and Zoo members will have special preview events before the official debut in May. Steve Taylor, the Zoo’s Executive Director, said a few of the elephants are already here, with two more on their way in the spring. Another great attraction to love here in Cleveland!
