Community West Foundation “Straight from the Heart”

The annual “Straight from the Heart” red-tie gala takes place in February, National Heart Month. The popular West Side benefit supports cardiovascular services at Fairview, Lakewood and Lutheran Hospitals. This year’s chairpersons were Gwen Print, R.N., M.S.N., regional senior director of cardiovascular services, and Anthony Vlastaris, M.D., regional medical director of cardiovascular services. The gala took place at LaCentre in Westlake with 530 guests in attendance.

This event is known for its fantastic raffle. For an investment of $100/ticket, one buys a chance at winning the grand prize of $100,000 or other cash prizes of $10,000, $5,000, $3,000 and $1,000. Among the many other excellent prizes were a week-long Mediterranean cruise for two, a trip for four to Disney World, his and hers Movado watches, a $500 gas card, 50 bottles of wine from Rozi’s Wine House, etc, etc.

Monica Robins, senior health correspondent, WKYC-TV 3, graciously served as mistress of ceremonies, along with Allan Fee, Q104 Radio morning personality, as master of ceremonies. The evening concluded with a dessert and coffee bar and dancing to the music of Shout Orchestra, which always gets the crowd on its feet! Straight from the Heart raised more than $200,000.
