With warmer weather and all abloom in Northeast Ohio, we turn our focus in this month’s issue of Currents toward home and landscape design. As we begin to transition and transform our interior and exterior living spaces, there is much to be learned from the advice of area designers and experts within the field featured this month in Section B. Our Empowering Women series continues this month in Section C, with articles highlighting successful women from Northeast Ohio making a big difference in our region.
Benefit season is in full swing! We strive to provide the most comprehensive coverage of charity/arts events happening all over Northeast Ohio and, for those of you who follow that coverage, this month should not disappoint! Remember though, as you plan your events going forward, that because we are a monthly publication, we require four to six weeks advance notice — so contact us in ample time so we can publicize your event. See page A6 for details about scheduled May/June events and how to get your benefit information to us.
Finally, I want to bring to your attention a book reviewed by Sali McSherry on page A10, recently released by Gray & Co. Publishers and authored by Janie Reinart and Mary Anne Mayer, called “Love You More Than You Know.” It’s a compilation of personal stories by Ohio mothers who share the experience of what it was like for them to send their sons and daughters to war. I recommend this book as “required” (and helpful) reading for all military families who undoubtedly will find uncanny similarities to the stories told and your own. But perhaps even more, I recommend it for those who don’t have a son or daughter serving our country, but probably know someone who does. A portion of proceeds from the book’s sales will be donated to ReMIND.org, a Bob Woodruff Foundation initiative for injured service members and their families. The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund will also receive donations. – Kelli Cotesworth McLellan
