This November issue of Currents focuses on hearth and home and holiday entertaining as we prepare to gather with friends and family for the Thanksgiving holiday next week.
In the best of all worlds, Thanksgiving is meant to be spent with the family, friends and neighbors who bless and enrich our lives. But, no matter where you might find yourself on Thanksgiving day this year, I hope that you will spend some time reflecting on your blessings (no matter how simple and humble or how extravagant and wonderful) and prepare to find joy and satisfaction in this upcoming holiday season by giving to and sharing with others.
Section C of Currents this month will appeal to all of you who love preparing and planning for your family and friends to join you for the feast and for other special gatherings throughout the holiday season. Blue Canyon Chef and owner Brandt Evans and Executive Chef Danny Jenks helped us set the stage and the mood for our Thanksgiving and holiday entertaining cover of Currents. Section C includes recipes for the feast as suggested by area chefs and celebs (C8), as well as tried-and-true recipes, passed down through generations, by Currents fans and friends who share ideas about what to do with those leftovers (C9). Wine stewards, sommeliers, oenophiles and brewers have offered their best seasonal suggestions for wines and beers to serve at your Thanksgiving table and holiday gatherings this year (C2-3). Area party planners and caterers offer the latest tips and trends for throwing a successful holiday party this season (C5). Finally, if you would appreciate just a little (or a lot) of help with all of the decorating demands in and around your home this season, area garden centers will work with you to help take the hassle out of holiday decorating (A8).
In addition, you certainly won’t miss in reading through this issue that our party reporters have been hustling and bustling all over town in order to provide coverage of more than 35 benefits in this issue. ’Tis the season for the Benefit Beat (see B)!
Next month’s issue of Currents publishes earlier than usual, on Dec. 8, in order to feature more helpful holiday-related hints and stories for interested readers this season.
