Geauga Growth Partnership “Geauga Home Grown”

More than 300 attendees gathered under the iconic dome of ASM International to bid on a silent auction and dine on local Geauga food, prepared by Geauga chefs, to raise money for Geauga Growth Partnership’s Youth Workforce Education. The GGP’s Workforce Development Program endeavors to give Geauga County high school students workforce ready skills for the real world. Their offerings include a High School Internship Program, Career Awareness events and Career Training Programs.

No Moss played well-done covers of popular music spanning last five decades. Near the entry to the event was stationed the talented event painter Jacqueline DelBrocco who painted a scene of the ASM gardens and dome. Across the way at a booth manned by Jacqueline DelBrocco’s husband, attendees could put paint on a canvas and then throw their creation at a plastic backdrop, which led to some interesting and pleasing results.

Several Chefs from all over Geauga County served up their creations made from local ingredients. Warren’s Spirited Kitchen served their imaginative Bourbon Glazed Donuts stuffed with Cheddar Cheese, while Chef Joe Matteucci and Chef Timothy Willis represented the Geauga Campus of University Hospitals serving a salad using Geauga watermelon and Middlefield feta. Tom’s Foolery Distillery handed out samples of their various whiskeys.

Jasmine Dragons from Chardon provided final entertainment for the event. A young woman performed feats of contortionist dexterity around the gardens, and then climbed up the suspended fabrics to perform an aerial routine that amazed all who watched. STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHS BY ALANA CLARK
