Best Party of the Year

The Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland celebrated its 23rd annual “Best Party of the Year” at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown. Held just before the holiday season, the event was called “A Winter Wonderland.” Guests enjoyed sampling small bites in the ballroom from eight generous restaurants. In the foyer, bars featured beers, wines, and signature cocktails. Appealing silent auction items kept guests bidding.
Everyone was excited that the Humanitarian Award for Giving was presented to the Orlando Baking Company. At 140 years old, this may be Cleveland’s oldest company. Generations of the Orlando family were spread among the 560 guests where they received well-deserved accolades for their generosity to just about every fundraising event in the city.
Guests enjoyed a live band and filled the dance floor with energy. Men took off their jackets and the atmosphere was similar to a great wedding. Quieter moments were shared in the foyer with a pianist and violinist. A commemorative photographer was on hand and there was a fill-a-bag donation table. New this year was a wine pull which sold out quickly. STORY BY ART THOMAS/PHOTOGRAPHS BY ROB WETZLER
