Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland “Rollin’ on the River”

The Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland served up another winning hand for its eighth annual “Rollin’ on the River” fundraiser. Windows on the River was rockin’ with music, casino games, good food and a silent auction, all to support the organization’s critical work of providing more than 60,000 adults and children in Cuyahoga County every month with nourishing food, essential services and support.

Targeted at young professionals, but open to all, “Rollin’” offered such unique items as Cleveland sports team and entertainment packages, an Ohio City pub crawl, gift cards to Nighttown and Saks Fifth Avenue and much more. Like many fundraisers these days, bidding went high-tech, with guests signing on their cell phones to keep tabs on the silent auction action. And back again, the ever-popular “Boat Load of Booze” raffle. At 8 p.m. the casino games opened up, and ample play money meant plenty of fun with blackjack, roulette and craps. Entertainment was provided by Sinatra-imitator Michael Sonata.

More than 400 people were in attendance and more than $65,000 was raised to help the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland. STORY BY LINDA McMULLEN/PHOTOGRAPHS BY JOHN BASHIAN
