Kent State University Museum celebrated its quarter-century success that began with the magnificent costume collection donated by Jerry Silverman and Shannon Rodgers.
Bonnie Barenholtz and KSU faculty member Elizabeth Carr were co-chairmen of the party that drew 300 guests, among them Ann Rutherford who starred in “Gone With the Wind,” Robert Osborne, host of Turner Classic Movies, and Linda Allard, internationally known fashion designer and KSU alumna. The reception included the preview of the latest exhibition, “Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen” that will run through September 2011.The significant collection of costumes from Ms. Hepburn’s most memorable films also includes her stage make-up and many pairs of her famous trousers and sensible shoes.
Following cocktails in the Rockwell Hall atrium where pianist Jack Hurd provided music, guests were transported by buses to the Kent Student Center for dinner. The ballroom entrance was stunning, its walls lined with digitized movie posters on fabric panels. KSU’s Banquet Services prepared a menu featuring a sumptuous dual entrée of filet mignon and lobster tails.
As dessert was served, the brief program began with remarks by KSU College of Arts Dean John Crawford. He recognized Museum Director Jean Druesedow before introducing KSU President Lester Lefton who called the Museum “a cultural asset locally and globally.”  The evening concluded with a screening of “Katharine Hepburn: All About Me,” the film documentary courtesy of Turner Classic Movies.
