March of Dimes “Signature Chefs Auction”

What was cooking at the “Signature Chefs Auction”? The question should be, what wasn’t! Going all out to celebrate the March of Dimes’ 75th birthday, party planners went bigger and better. More than 450 supporters packed Windows on the River to raise money for life-saving programs and research so critical to ensure healthy births and advanced medical services to high-risk newborns.

Nearly 40 area chefs, confectioners and caterers, along with several beverage purveyors, donated their talents to an evening of superb sampling. The judges must have had a tough time picking the best of the best, but the winners of the evening were: Sweet: Lilly Handmade Chocolates; Savory: Dante Restaurant; Presentation: Fannie Mae Confections. Scott Kuhn, of the Driftwood Restaurant Group, was honored for his culinary and charity commitment.

But the real winners are the hundreds of babies and parents helped by the March of Dimes. Honorary Chair Dr. Deanne Wilson-Costello of University Hospital and Sandy Danison spoke of how their preemie babies survived and now thrive, thanks to this dedicated organization.
