Like the fine wines it celebrates, the Barrington Wine Classic simply gets better with time. The 10th edition of this elegant fundraiser continued the tradition of serving gourmet food, superb vintages and delightful entertainment under a perfect summer sky.
Guests dined at stations provided by the Barrington staff, as well as chefs from University Hospitals’ Ahuja Medical Center, Standard Fine Food & Spirits and The Mentor Yacht Club.
This year’s featured host was John Cunin, a nationally known food and beverage consultant. The featured vintner and distributor: Cakebread Cellars and Heidelberg, respectively.
“I’m the organizer,” said Tim Novotny with a grin. “He” — pointing to John Norman — “is the producer.” Both gents, along with the rest of the Steering Committee, did a wonderful job. Auctioneer Bob Hale took guests through the live auction, which included a $20,000 Napa weekend at the luxurious Staglin Estate with all the extras, a weekend in Cabo San Lucas for 14, and a fund-a-need round for the Near West Theatre.
The beneficiary of this evening’s proceeds, the Near West Theatre, provides dynamic, enriching programs for children, teens; and adults in a safe and encouraging environment. The more than $100,000 raised will make a big difference in many lives.
