As temperatures drop to single digits, Nordic fashions keep you warm, yet fashionable, heading into the depths of winter.

At Knuth’s, Nordic cold weather fashion is cozy, comfortable and even colorful. From boots and scarves to gloves, wraps, ponchos and sweaters, the choices are vast and inviting.

Infinity or fringy scarves keep your neck warm, and faux fur is especially popular and soft this season adding a luxurious option for the neck. Fur and faux trim are also seen on gloves as well as faux or real shearling.

Wraps and ponchos in fur, faux fur, cashmere or other chunky knits look great thrown over a coat or as a cozy indoor piece. Hats and headbands, some with jewels and others with fur, keep your head warm and boot socks and leg warmers that stick out of the top of the boot over a skinny jean or legging is a trendy, warm look. Many of these socks have fun buttons or lacey trims.

Terrific styles of boots complete that Nordic look and Ugg slippers with soles are even worn outdoors!

Cold weather creates an opportunity to add fashion and flattering color to often dark, neutral winter clothing and outerwear, fashion experts at Knuth’s state. Bold pops of color, like red, cobalt or hot pink always look great, as do soft hues like pale pink, icy blue and winter whites.

At Riley’s in Hudson, authentic Irish sweaters bring the Nordic look to the forefront. Imported from Ireland, the line of “Ireland’s Eye” sweaters hasz a look all its own. Unique, classic and oh so warm, these sweaters can be paired with jeans or a casual pant. They are beautiful in cranberry and soft teal.

Not to be forgotten are Fair Isle sweater this season, which range in color, style and price point, with choices at Gap or JCrew as well as Ralph Lauren.

At Geiger’s in Chagrin Falls and Lakewood, the classic Nordic look is made clear in beautiful Dale of Norway sweaters, for men, women and children. All made in Norway, the sweaters come in classic alpine colors like red, navy and black, with some of the men’s styles in earth tones. Dale of Norway also offers a variety of accessories like hats and headbands.

Stay warm in parkas this winter at Geiger’s, featuring lots of down styles by Patagonia, the North Face, and Canada Goose, a popular premium brand today. There are also warm boots by Ugg and Sorel, with faux fur on top. Knit mittens, hats and scarves abound as do warm and fuzzy bright-colored fleece from Patagonia.

Trending and warm are women’s beanie hats featuring the large pom pom. The retro look goes back to the late 1970s and early 1980s. Warm, chunky knit is huge this season.
