“My Fair Lady”

The Northern Ohio Opera League (NOOL) presented its annual fundraising luncheon and fashion show extravaganza at Landerhaven. The theme of this year’s event was My Fair Lady, inspired by actress, legend and humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn.
The returning benefit chairladies were Phyllis Donnelly-Ingold and Ann Elder, with co-chairs Joan Babcock, Maria Cutler, Bonnie Femec and Maria von Alvensleben. Phyllis expertly coordinated the luncheon, silent auction and program, whereas Ann used her creative talents to produce and narrate the fashion show. Ann’s co-host on stage was David Bamberger, head of opera at CIM.
Baroness Maria von Alvensleben was the show’s associate producer, handling the models and arranging for hair and make-up, courtesy of Color Nation in Rocky River. The fashion show featured clips from Audrey Hepburn films, clothes from Toni In Style and Weiss Furs, and jewelry form Marise Designs. Milliner Marta Glazen, owner of Busy Broad, provided the costumes for “Audrey,” as performed by Verb Ballets dancer, Danielle Brickman, in vignettes between scenes.
Opening remarks were made by Mary Hamlin, NOOL president. The guest of honor was Dr. Russell Trusso. With 200 ladies in attendance, approximately $20,000 was raised for the Opera League. STORY BY CAROLINE R. MERK/PHOTOGRAPHS BY JOHN BASHIAN
