Fool’s Frolic at Moxie was no April Fool’s Day joke. Sure, there were jesters and jokers, magicians and even a few jugglers, but the event, benefiting Shoes and Clothes For Kids, was everything one has come to expect from Brad Friedlander’s Beachwood restaurant — world-class food and service.
The first-ever Fool’s Frolic drew a crowd of 250 guests and helped to raise more than $30,000 for the organization. Moxie’s team worked hand in hand with the staff at Shoes and Clothes for Kids, said the organization’s Director Valerie McCormack. It was a true partnership, and Moxie’s staff members, who volunteered their time for the evening, gave so much to make the party an outstanding occasion, she said.
Guests participated in a raffle with the grand prize of $1,000 piece of jewelry donated by Alson Jewelers. There was also a wine pull, with 100 mystery bottles of wine that could be purchased. Some lucky fool won a bottle of Tattinger, Comptes de Champagne Rose 1991 and another won a bottle of coveted Silver Oak Napa 1998.
Fool’s Frolic was sponsored by Davis Automotive Group, Forest City Enterprises, Nancy Levine and Strassman Insurance Services. Hats off to event chairman Scott Simon who led the frolicking and to Mr. Friedlander who served as chairman of the host committee.
Shoes and Clothes for Kids will distribute this year new clothing and Payless shoe gift cards with a retail value of almost $2.2 million to 25,000 children in Greater Cleveland. STORY BY SALI McSHERRY. PHOTOGRAPHS BY JOHN BASHIAN
