FirstEnergy Stadium, home of the Cleveland Browns, served as the venue for the 18th annual Deck the House event, benefitting Providence House, Ohio’s first crisis nursery.
Nearly 700 guests took part in the festive evening, which featured a live and silent auction, the Cleveland Browns 2013 Ed Block Couerage Awared presentation to TJ Ward and electronic bidding. The event grossed more than $240,000 for Providence House.
Guests mingled with Cleveland Browns players in the City View Lounge and also enjoyed a special holiday performance by the North Coast Men’s Chrous.
Honortary chairs for the event were Annie and Joe Thomas, and celebrity emcee was Jimmy Malone.
Guests shopped for holiday gifts and the beautifully decorated Chrsitmas trees throughout the lounge. The Providence House Children’s tree featured ornaments hand-made by children from the Greater Clevleand communtiy for the children at Providence House. Decorations were by Caring Cubs Group and Urban Community School with help from the Deck the House Committee.
Providence House opened this year its newly expanded facility and over the year, nearly 250 children at risk of abuse or neglect found safe shelter there. In addition to profiding protection for at-risk chdilren, Providence House works to empower families and build strong, safer commniteis. STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHS BY SUE REID
