Get a jump start on fall’s hottest back-to-school fashions with Nicky Nicole. A locally owned boutique, Nicky Nicole specializes in fun fashions and great girly gifts making it the ultimate shopping experience for young girls.

MJ Lehman, owner and creator of Nicky Nicole, says “kids want a fresh look to head back to school.” A perfect choice for the first day of school, MJ suggest anything tie-dyed. “It’s hot and popular,” she says and Nicky Nicole has a fabulous collection of tie-dye tanks, tees, hoodies and dresses. I especially loved Groovy Blueberry’s soft, vintage-like, tie-dye pieces. Easy, cool and comfortable, this collection is a real winner for the first days of school. They also have a colorful assortment of tie-dye messenger bags, backpacks and handbags constructed in a soft yet highly durable canvas.

Back-to-school fashions also include denim and this year it is especially popular. “Straight legs, boot cuts and skinny jeans, girls will want a variety of denin silhouettes to choose from,” says MJ. The Pinc Jean collection is one of her favorites. A great fit for girls with several different styles, Pinc Jeans can be worn with Nicky Nicole’s collection of “burn out” tees, a technique that creates a worn-out look and feel. Layered over camis, it is perfect for those still warm days of August and September. In addition, Nicky Nicole has a selection of the super hot, super cool T-shirt collection by Keroppi featuring Japanese artwork that is all the rage with young girls.

Leggings are back too. This year leggings will be coming in longer lengths so that they can be worn ruched and/or srunched with boots. New for fall will be beautifully patterned semi-sheer leggings that can be layered with denim skirts and long, knit tunic tops. While I was there, I spotted a beautiful open knit cardigan by JK Tees with an embossed design in a rich purple on the back. “Layering is the way to go,” says MJ, and this cardigan would be perfect over leggings, skinny jeans or a denim skirt.

Boho trends and eco-chic designs are important trends for girls this fall too. Think peace, ecology and recycle as important themes. “The peace sign and the smile face are so fun and girls just can’t get enough of them,” says MJ. Nicky Nicole has a great selection of eco-minded wallets, bags and “Smencils,” scented pencils made form recycled newspapers. Check out their assortment of collectible Japanese puzzle erasers, Two’s Company’s lip glosses and loads of girly accessories too!
