Summit County Medical Alliance “Celebrating Spring”

Dr. Rob and Patty Kamienski were honored at the annual spring benefit hosted by the Summit County Medical Alliance, the physicians’ spouses nonprofit founded in 1941.

SCMA President Bev Devine was chairman of the party attended by more than 180 guests at the Portage Country Club. She said their goal was to raise $50,000 for Mobile Meals that since its founding by SCMA in 1971 has received more than $1.5 million. Mobile Meals serves 2,500 meals daily in five communities across Northeast Ohio.

Guests bid on the silent auction and bought raffles to win prize wines and a Dominican Republic vacation getaway before dinner. Leonard Grabowski was emcee for the program that included remarks by Mobile Meals President and CEO Lorie Travaglino before the Making a Difference Award presentation to the Kamienskis. Dr. Kamienski just retired after 34 years at Akron General Medical Center where he was chief of cardiothoracic surgery from 1996 to 2014. Mrs. Kamienski, a cardiac surgery ICU nurse, has been a longtime member of SCMA, serving as both president of it and of the Ohio State Medical Alliance. In retirement they plan to volunteer for Mobile Meals and spend time with family.

The evening concluded with dancing to music by the Get On Up Funk Band.
